When I see a website using pop up ads, I just leave it. I believe pop up ads are not favored by Internet users. Then, why do pop up ads exist, why pop up ads are still being used?

Ethan Zuckerman, the creator of pop up ads, has publicly apologized for inventing the most annoying thing in the internet. Pop up ads exist because they are the cheapest way to advertise on the internet and also easiest way to monetize a website

I’ve never heard of Ethan Zuckerman or the story behind the creation of pop-up ads until now. It’s interesting, and kind of ironic, that the inventor later apologized. I always just thought pop-up ads were a natural part of early internet monetization.

I think that pop up ads exists because it gets the attention of a site user more than any form of advertisements on a site. They are all up in the face of the user. They are annoying and the user might just want to close it immediately. But they get to see the ads anyways.

Good question, obviously to send advertising to people, but of course, there's a problem, nobody likes pop-up ads, they're extremely annoying, aren't they? So it's a good question, it even seems like they're created to place viruses in advertisements haha in fact you have to be careful with pop-up ads, sometimes they tend to be dangerous for a PC

Pop up ads were popular for advertisers as well as publishers in the past, since the pop up ads appeared without engaging with the content, they had higher conversion rate. But these days, pop up ads are intrusive, and no one cares about it.
