Some argue targeting is everything, others say creatives matter more. Which has the bigger impact on ROI in your experience? How do you refine audiences without shrinking reach too much? What targeting strategies have consistently worked for you?

Audience targeting is key to ad performance because it determines who actually sees the message. Good targeting improves relevance, engagement, and conversions while reducing wasted spend. However, even perfect targeting needs strong creative and timing. Without those, ads may still underperform despite reaching the right audience effectively overall.

Creative usually has the bigger impact on ROI because it determines whether people actually stop and engage. Targeting still matters, but it mainly controls efficiency, not interest.
To refine audiences without shrinking reach too much, I start broad and then layer in behavioral signals like engagement, intent, or lookalikes instead of narrowing too early. I also test multiple creatives across the same audience before cutting anything.
