Considering the advancement of AI and the fact that videos can be created today that look practically real, my question is: Is it okay to use AI to promote a product in an e-commerce store? Because technically, what the video would show wouldn't be real; it would just be a representation. But is it ethical to do this? Would you use AI to promote a product in your e-commerce store? I want to read your opinions to know whether to do it or not. I think it's a great idea, but it has a big ethical problem.

Using Gen AI to create product is good for small businesses that cannot hire professional video creator or professional model to appear in the videos. You can even create animated videos with AI, without requiring animation skills.

I believe it’s okay to use AI to promote a product as long as the content is honest and doesn’t mislead. AI-generated visuals can enhance marketing, but they should reflect the actual product accurately. Personally, I’d use AI for concept demos or lifestyle shots, but I’d also include real product images or footage. Ethical transparency builds trust, especially in eCommerce where buyers rely heavily on visuals.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend using AI too much for advertisement and promotion as it might lack that originality and human appeal. In the end, it is best not to rely too much on AI for advertisement.

Using AI for product videos in e-commerce helps create engaging visuals without high production costs. AI tools can generate short demos, animations, voiceovers, and personalized videos at scale. This improves product understanding, boosts conversions, and keeps content fresh across websites and social platforms.
