Shopify and Woocommece are two most popular platforms to create online store. Shopify is a premium platform were as Woocommerce is open source. Shopify covers 27 percent market share, where as Woocommerce covers 18 percent. How do you choose which platform to use, how do you choose between Shopify and Woocommerce? Well, the most important thing to consider s the cost, with Shopify you will have to spend around $400 just to create a store and then have to spend 2 x even 3 x to market your store. With woocomerce you spend zero and you can just focus on marketing.

I guess what should you use depends on how much money you are willing to invest. If you have to pay subscriptions for shopify, I believe you will be spending a lot of money to build your store. What if you cannot sell a single item or cannot sell enough to cover your cost?

If you want to use Shopify, you need to take that risk, If you do not want to take a risk, woocommerce can be a better solution as you only spend on domain and hosting. However, even when you are using woocommerce, there are other costs associated, for instance, you might have to pay for add ons or themes. You need to spend on marketing and advertising.

I know Shopify and Woocommerce are the most popular ones, but has anyone ever heard of PrestaShop? It’s pretty good too, although you can’t easily integrate it with an existing website, so that’s a bit of a shame. Still, it has great customization abilities and a huge selection of themes and plugins to purchase.

Both options are good. It really depends on your budget. If you’re looking for a free solution, WooCommerce is a good choice, but keep in mind it may involve other costs. On the other hand, if you have the budget to spend, Shopify is an excellent option. It’s user-friendly, ideal for beginners, and comes with 24/7 support.
