Running a forum requires balance between freedom and order. Do you enforce strict posting rules to keep spam out, or allow flexibility for natural discussions? What is your moderation style and how it has affected engagement?

Being flexible is what I like. There is no need to be strict or show how mean you can be when it comes to moderating posts and content on the community. Just have that balance where users know that they are welcome to feel relaxed being a part of the community.

I prefer a balanced approach to moderation. Being too strict can stifle discussion, while being too flexible risks chaos. For example, I enforce clear rules consistently but allow some leniency for new members to encourage engagement.

In my experience, moderating a forum is a balance between allowing freedom of expression and maintaining order. Personally, I apply clear but not overly strict rules; users know what is allowed and what is not, but they have space to debate and express themselves. To maintain quality, I review new members' posts before they are publicly visible and delete spam immediately. I also try to intervene only when necessary, letting discussions flow naturally. This strategy has worked well for my community: people feel heard and respected, which encourages participation, but the forum doesn't become cluttered with irrelevant content. Maintaining a constant balance between control and flexibility has been key to increasing activity without sacrificing the quality of the conversations.
