Becoming a good graphic designer could be a hard thing to do. I remember pursuing a graphic designing course around the 2007 to 2010 era. At that time things were very different when it comes to graphic designing. There were no AI tools back then. We used to learn graphic designing on software such as PowerPoint and other software. At that time, things were quite complicated because no one uses AI to generate graphics. One cannot rely completely on AI even today. So, how do you become a good graphic designer?

Well, PowerPoint is not a design software, it is a presentation software. Some of the popular design software that you can use for graphic designing are photoshop, coreldraw, indesign, etc. To become a good designer you have to master these software.

If you want to become a good graphic designer, practice regularly, learn design tools, and study different styles. Stay creative, seek feedback, and keep improving your skills. Also, stay inspired by exploring art, trends, and other designers’ work to grow your talent.

Obviously with practice, a lot of practice and having a good technique to design very well graphically, if you are starting in the world of graphic design you have hundreds of video materials on YouTube in tutorial format, including hours and hours of material in which you will learn correctly to be a good graphic designer, I recommend that you start there.

To become a good graphic designer, you must expand your skill set. Learn the fundamentals and practice using the tools required for graphic design. Practice makes perfect, so practice every day and get some feedback from family, friends, or colleagues.

Your focus should be on mastering design tools, studying color theory and typography, and practicing daily. Seeking feedback, following design trends, and building a strong portfolio also help.

Becoming a good graphic designer takes practice, creativity, and learning the right tools. I started by mastering software like Photoshop and Illustrator, studying design principles, and working on small projects. Consistently seeking feedback and analyzing others’ work helps improve skills over time.

Becoming a good graphic designer today requires a mix of creativity, technical skill, and continuous learning. While AI tools have made certain aspects of design faster and more accessible, they are only a supplement, not a replacement for core design skills. A solid foundation in design principles such as color theory, typography, layout, composition, and visual hierarchy is essential. Understanding these basics allows you to create work that is both aesthetically pleasing and effective in communicating a message.
Practical experience is also critical. Working on real projects, whether personal, freelance, or for clients, helps you apply your knowledge, solve design problems, and develop a portfolio that showcases your style and versatility. Studying the work of successful designers can inspire creativity and teach valuable lessons about trends and techniques.
Additionally, mastering industry-standard tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign remains important, even with AI assistance. Learning to use AI tools responsibly such as for idea generation, rapid prototyping, or automating repetitive tasks can save time and enhance productivity
