Forum policing is a practice where the admin or moderators become too strict. They may start sending warning to members who have done nothing wrong. This is called forum policing and many members would dislike it. So how do you avoid or prevent forum policing?

To avoid heavy-handed forum policing, you need to establish clear, simple rules that focus on behavior rather than opinions. You can use automated tools for spam detection but limit manual moderation to serious issues. Encourage community self-regulation through upvotes, reporting, and peer guidance. Also, transparency and consistent enforcement help maintain order without making users feel overly policed.

Everything depends on the forum niche if you ask me because there are some forum where you are supposed to be very strict otherwise things are going to get out of hand. But if it's a general discussion forum, you don't need to be very strict otherwise you're going to chase your members away.
