How Many Ads Are Good For a Website?

For those who want to monetize their websites, one the main issues is how to use ads without annoying visitors. When you have a lot of ads, your visitors might leave your site or even use ad blocker. People do not like intrusive ads or too many ads, it will make your site messy. Cluttered websites are turn off for many. Therefore, a lot of care should be taken regarding ads usage. What is the correct number of ads in a website?

I hate visiting websites with too many ads. I thin maximum 5 ads per page would be fine. I hate ads inside content but ads on the top, bottom and sidebars would be fine

Nothing is more unattractive to me than a website that is absolutely plastered with ads - it's usually when I'll instantly "switch off" from the site and either leave immediately or get what I want and go quick. I'm not likely to stay and engage on a website that has too many ads - and in my opinion, anymore than 3 ads, perhaps 4 if the layout is thoughtful - is simply too many.

Too many ads is certainly a turn off for most people. Even the website owners who are using too many ads on their own websites also don't like the websites with too many ads. However, if you have designed your website with a good layout, I think 5 ad units can easily fit into one page. For example, you can have one-one ad on header and footer, one ad on sidebar and two ads in the middle of the page. If your website also has a lot of content, 5 ad units perfectly blend in.

I think the main thing is the ads should not interfere with the content, the ads should not affect the speed of the website and ads should not bee too intrusive, also ads should not have auto play, for video ads, or too flashy

When there are a lot of ads, website speed will certainly be affected, if these are are pip ups and pop under, they are very intrusive. If you are using too many ads, it will be difficult for users to interact with your content. Therefore, too many ads are good. However, when it comes to determining how many ads are too many, people have their own opinion. I think more than 5 is too many and some thing anything more than 3 is too many
