Some users stay silent for months. Is the key better prompts, recognition, or gamification? Do reputation systems actually increase posting, or do they only reward existing active users?

I think the key is making it easy and comfortable for people to participate. Not everyone jumps into discussions right away. Asking simple questions, welcoming new members, recognizing helpful contributions, and creating topics people genuinely care about can slowly turn passive readers into active contributors.
