Before someone disappears, there are usually signals. Is it reduced posting, tone changes, or reduced engagement? How do you intervene without being intrusive?

You can usually tell someone is drifting away when they start showing up less.
They stop posting or replying, take longer breaks between visits, and don’t interact with content like they used to. Even when they do come online, they’re quieter or less involved.

I’ve noticed that too. The change is often gradual rather than sudden. Sometimes it means they’ve lost interest, but other times life simply gets busier and online communities move down their priority list. Have you found that a personal message or check-in helps re-engage members, or does it rarely make a difference?
