Before going live, what are the absolute essentials rules, seed content, design, or member recruitment? What is your personal forum launch checklist so others can avoid mistakes and create a smooth experience from day one.

My checklist:

1. domain name (based on the niche and some serious keyword research);
2. hosting and Xenforo installed;
3. nodes/forums set up - not too many, but enough to cover the topic. Plus the hello section, community updates (with the rules) and an offtopic.
4. 40-60 new topics to cover these categories.

In the meantime I start recruting members and handle the design and other tweaks.

Before launching a forum, there are certain points that are essential to ensure you don't get off on the wrong foot. A clean and functional design, clear rules from day one, some initial content to motivate newcomers to participate, and a basic strategy for recruiting the first members. Without these, the community can become stale and quickly lose interest.

Before launching a forum, ensure these essentials are ready: clear forum categories and structure, user registration and moderation rules, privacy and terms of service, basic content or seed posts, spam protection, and a testing phase to catch bugs.
