Do you keep the same influencer and continuously pay them for a long time or do you frequently work with different influencers? If you have used both strategy for your influencer marketing campaign, what works best for you, do the long term influencer bring in more sales or do new influencers and frequent change in influencers get you better sales?

Interestingly, I came across a study by Neil Patel that show that, your ROI with the influencer goes high on the second month and than gradually drop for the rest of the months if you are working with them for entire year.

The audience of the influencer would trust the product more to patronize when the influencer keeps on promoting the product. They would come to see the influencers advise to purchase the product as authentic.

Working with influencers long-term has clear advantages in terms of trust and brand consistency, but it doesn't always guarantee the best ROI. Initially, the relationship is established and sales may increase, but as you mention, over time the impact tends to stabilize or even decrease if the campaigns aren't creatively renewed. That's why I sometimes opt for a combination: keeping one or two main influencers for consistent, branding campaigns, and complementing them with new influencers for specific promotions or launches. This keeps things fresh and prevents saturation. Additionally, working with different influencers allows us to reach new audiences and test which type of profile generates the best response. In short, I achieve the best results by balancing stability and strategic rotation based on sales and engagement goals.

I think long-term influencer partnerships bring better brand loyalty. Working long-term with the same influencer builds trust, consistency, and a stronger bond with their audience. It often feels more authentic than one-off campaigns. But you should also try new influences to being some novelty.
