I completely agree with your point of view. I believe that keeping birds as pets can be problematic from an ethical and animal welfare perspective. Birds are creatures of nature that need to fly freely, explore their environment, and socialize with other birds. Restricting their freedom to a cage in a home doesn't allow them to express their natural behavior and can seriously affect their physical and mental health.
Many people think that small birds, such as parakeets or canaries, are easy to care for and don't suffer in captivity, but the reality is different. Even if they are provided with food, water, and a clean space, the lack of flight and social interaction with their species can lead to stress, anxiety, and repetitive or destructive behaviors. Furthermore, some species have very specific needs that humans can't always adequately meet.
I believe that instead of keeping birds as pets, the ideal would be to observe and enjoy them in their natural habitat, supporting conservation and sanctuaries where they can live freely. For me, keeping birds locked up goes against their nature and, although it is not always intended to harm them, it does severely limit their well-being and quality of life.
