In my case, I paid a little more than average because I wanted a secure website, but they didn't give me the complete package because it was too expensive. I have never hired a freelance website developer or designer. I prefer to design my own website. Moreover, I do not have the budget for hiring someone.
I also noticed that the cheapest options come with many hidden limitations, especially in terms of safety and support. In my case, I went with an average range package because I didn't want to worry about constant solutions later. It costs a little more, but I think that tranquility has been worth it.

I have also built my own website and it was a really tough job. I used built-in website builders when it comes to creating a professional website. I tied my best to create a great website. However, I was using a free website (i.e. a free domain) where options were quite limited on the CMS and platform I was using. It is much better to purchase a domain and avail full services when it comes to a website builder.
