Do you keep the same username on each forum or make use of different usernames across different forums? I know some forum owners who request using different username being used from posting package orders which is a different case.

If you're using different usernames, why do you choose to do so?

I started using forums actively in 2015 and I have always stayed with the same username across multiple sites. That's because I want to build my reputation around forums. I have also used different usernames when the owner asked for.

I use multiple usernames because I prefer to remain untracked in the community. It helps me participate freely without tying all activity to a single identity, and allows me to engage in different discussions or topics without revealing too much about myself.

I use different names. Using different usernames across forums can be helpful for a few reasons. It gives you more privacy, especially if one account gets linked to personal details. It also lets you separate hobbies, sensitive discussions, and professional spaces so they don’t overlap. If one account gets targeted or compromised, the rest stay safe. It’s a simple way to manage boundaries online without much effort.

Agreed. But usually people do not share private information online. They register with a pseudo name and use just email, a lot of forums even don't want your location. Therefore, I believe concern for privacy, especially on forums is unfounded.
