I think that trolling and making fun of others might be quite common on various forums. This kind of behaviour could damage the community health. Having said that, under such kind of circumstances, what is the best way to deal with trolls on the forum?

I don’t own a forum myself, so I haven’t had to deal with trolls directly. But from what understand you need clear rules, active moderation, and empowering members to report disruptive behavior.

Thankfully, I haven't received any trolls on my forums. However, I have seen a lot of trolls on the forums I manage for clients, on the forums where I am staff, and on the forums where I am active. If I am a normal user, I always report trolls. If I am moderator or staff, I take action

Trolling can involve bullying other members. When such kind of thing happens admins and moderators should step in and take action. This is important. Having said that, if you are being bullied by someone, then it is important to inform the admin, so they can deal with the trolls.

I don’t run forums myself, so I haven’t had direct experience dealing with trolls. From what I have learned as a forum user managing them requires clear rules, active moderation, and sometimes technical tools like filters or temporary bans. Encouraging community reporting and fostering a culture where disruptive behavior isn’t rewarded can also help. Even without personal experience, I see that preventing trolling depends on consistent enforcement, communication, and building a respectful environment from the start.

It is always an important step to take action against trolls. Moreover, initially we have to warn them so that they can change themselves. Having said that, some people cannot change and in that case we should tell them about the consequences. If they do not change their ways, they can risk getting banned.

Trolls are not supposed to allow to be doing whatever they like in a community because it is going to make it a very toxic environment for anyone to enjoy. They should be dealt with according to the community rules and regulation.

It is as simple as that. Handling situations where you handle trolls means that you get them to obey the rules guiding the forum or risk being kicked out of the forum. It is just as simple as that.
