Both are important for online businesses, but if you had to prioritize, would you spend more on long-term SEO or short-term social media campaigns? What brings better ROI for entrepreneurs.

I always spend more social media ads when I am running a flash sale or a product launch for my online business. But for long term build up of loyal customers, I spend more on SEO. Spending more on social media ads is seasonal for me.

I don't spend money for SEO. That's because I do it myself, however, I spend money for social media marketing. Even though I have pages with thousands of followers, I frequently run ads to reach more people

I tend to invest more in social media because it allows direct engagement with potential customers and can create viral reach. SEO is important but results are slower and less interactive compared to social platforms.

I believe this really depends on your business goals and your timeframe, but if I had to prioritize, I’d lean toward long-term SEO over short-term social media campaigns for sustainable ROI. Social media can give a quick burst of traffic or engagement, and it’s great for immediate promotions or brand awareness. However, these results often fade quickly once the campaign ends, and you have to continuously invest to maintain visibility. It’s very much a “pay to play” model.

They go hand in hand. SEO is the foundation, your website SHOULD be optimized and it's not a big deal: write decent content, use proper headings, use images the correct way, interlink your pages. Easy-peasy. Social comes to promote these pages/articles and get your more traffic, which should be converted into leads/sales.
